In class yesterday we took a look at game called Indigo Prophecy. A few of us tried it and found how to navigate through the Indigo story. This game I felt falls under the mystery/murder/adventure genre.
With this type of game we are free to move around and do what we like. But we are also on a constrain of time and actions so we are not truley free. Take your time in Indigo and you will eventualy get caught by the villans and the mystery comes to and end. One difference between the game and hypertext was that Hypertext allows readers to freely move back and forth without the pressure of moving on.
This game demonstrates how we are still under a sequence of actions and if we dont perfom them we dont succeed. Unlike hypertext, we are not able to backstep as easily unless we save levels on the game. Even though so, you dont start originally from your last place.
I will be sure to play the game a few times in the lab if Prof Andrew leaves one out for us! yay!
