Tomorrow in class we are discussing the digital game The Sims.
Personally i enjoyed playing Sim Tower. When The Sims were first coming to digital gaming i found them quite boring. Pobably because i was using a 386 or a 486 at the time. As i upgraded my computer got faster and the resolution changed the game entirely.
I was first hooked on Sims Tower when I built my first 100 story hotel/appartmen/condo with a skylobby on the 60th floor and everything from shopping malls to movie theaters underground. The goal is starting at a 1 STAR * rating and hopefully build it up to a 5 star hotel. Every new addition to the hotel you make brings in money so that you can continue to construct a taller or larger building. You get money from rent/hotel/theater/shopping malls/fitness clubs...
But there is a catch. Everything doesn go so smooth. You might be infested with cockroaches, noisy tenants, bad ticket sales to movies, or worse people moving out. SO you need to maintain the building as best as possible. You may even be visited by the health inspectors randomly and lose your liscence for the building.
Cool game, youll be addicted. Not a hard game to grasp either unlike the Sims Family or other simulations from Maxis.
Klines article on sim city discusses Will Wrights first Sim City. The distributor Broderbund feared it might be percived as too educational, so they added special disaster options. Jokes went around naming the newest of the Sims as Sims Osama. Wow just wow.
